Social Security funda may run our in 2033. How did this happen? In 1992 the US government “borrowed” $50 billion dollars from Social Security and continues to “borrow” money. It is really not borrowing. When they take our money–and it is our money–we earned it and we are entitled to it. The government does not borrow; it does not repay the money. Where I come from we call that stealing; that’s right the federal government is stealing our social security money. What should be done and what we need to demand is that the federal government keep their greedy hands off our retirement money. We need t,o right now, contact our US House of Representative and US Senator to demand that they support the bill in Congress, to protect our Social Security money from the government. Our Social Security money should not be used to pay other government bills. If there is a surplus in Social Security funds, it should be fully invested in government-backed securities, with the proceeds used to either lower Social Security taxes or increase the benefits. IKf the money is paid back and is no longer stolen, Social Security will be solvent and people’s retirement will be safe and secure. Act now before it is too late.
